Bomber County Aviation Resource started life in late 2009, when the first designs where drawn up. Founder Craig Wise first came up with the concept in 2007, but he put the project on hold due to other commitments. Then in mid 2009 he decided to resurrect the project. Due to the size of the project Graham Platt was asked to help with the research and development, then Steve Cambers soon followed to help with the forward planning and Spotterwatch. Between the three of them idea's were coming thick and fast and Bomber County was born.
Bomber County Aviation Resource was finally launched on 1st January 2010, but after several technical problems, it was decided to shut the site down and correct the problems. In the three months the site was off line, not only were the problems fixed, but a complete re-design of the site took place, resulting in what you see know. The new look Bomber County was then re-launched on 1st January 2011, and has continued to grow since.
Craig Wise I spent my early years in Lincolnshire, with RAF Manby just a 'stones throw' away from my parents home. Naturally as the home of the RAF, Lincolnshire had plenty to offer the aviation enthusiast in the mid 70s and I spent much time visiting airfields such as Binbrook, Coningsby and Waddington. Unsurprisingly aviation became a career for me when i left school, joining the RAF in 1988, serving for seven years. I then joined the civilian world, but continued to serve for another five years on a part time basis. In 2007 I joined the staff at On Target Aviation, where I spent two years as Webmaster, which included doing a complete redesign of the entire site for them. Then in 2009 I decided it was time to venture out on my own, and Bomber County was born. As a keen photographer, i've had images published in Air Forces Monthly, Aviation News and Combat Aircraft magazines. I currently use the Canon EOS-400D & 600D camera teamed up with the Canon 17-85mm and Sigma 120-400mm lens. |
Graham Platt Born & raised in Lincolnshire, I've been interested in aircraft since a very early age. I spent a lot of my childhood watching aircraft either flying over the house or at the local stations - RAF Coningsby was my 'local' but I also cycled across to Waddington, Scampton, Cranwell & Binbrook during the school summer holidays. My interests are now in airfield history/archaeology and aviation photography. I have had several images published in a variety of magazines including Air Force Monthly and Aviation News. |
