January 2012

Work on updating the maps in the "Heritage Airfield" section has continued. The following airfields now have the updated maps . . . Elsham Wolds, Fiskerton, Kirmington, Ludford Magna and Swinderby.

Work on updating the maps in the "Heritage Airfield" section has now started. The following airfields now have the updated maps . . . Binbrook, Folkingham, Kelstern, Skellingthorpe and Spilsby. More will follow in the coming weeks.

We have just finished reviewing the stats for the site in 2011, and it's been big surprise to us all. We've amassed a total of 46,973 visits in 2011, making the site even more popular than we ever invisioned. So a huge "Thank you" must go to everyone using the site and for the support we have received over the past year. We look forward to your continued support over the coming years, as we add even more content to the site.

With the Christmas period almost upon us, the decision has been made to do some much needed maintenance on the website. The results of some of this work will be seen in the near future, more details will follow soon.





November 2011

We are currently working on a new section for the site entitled "Accommodation". So if you own or have stayed at any aviation related Bed & Breakfast or hotel within the county, then please contact us and we'll add it to the site.

The "Events Calendar" has been altered so as to be more up to date. From now on it will contain events for the upcoming 6 month period, and will be updated at the start of each month. October 2011


We have been asked by Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire to help promote the 'Shouting the Odds' oral history project. So if you served on Thor or Bloodhound during the Cold war, then please go to the "Cold War Missile" section on this site for more information.

We are proud to announce we have been asked to help with a new project. The RAF Ingham Heritage Group have started a project to rebuild the old Airmen's Mess on the former airfield. Once complete, the Mess will be the home of the RAF Ingham Heritage Museum. We have been asked to assist with the design and development of their new website, which we hope to have up and running in the near future. More details will be available in the coming weeks.





September 2011

The "Airfields" section has now been extended to include the Landing Grounds from WWI. More landing Grounds and inland Bombing Ranges will be added at a later date.





August 2011

The A/C Incident Logs have now been extended, and now cover WWI-Present. Should we obtain any information on any incidents before 1914, then they will be added to the site. So at present the entire logs cover 1914-Present. If you have any further information you can add to the logs, then please contact us.

Phantom XV249 has been added to the "Preserved Aircraft" section, courtesy of Richard Flagg. Also the memorial for Vickers Valiant WZ363 at Market Rasen has been added to the site, courtesy of Jason Pountney.





July 2011

New section on the site entitled "lest we forget". In this section you will find permanent tributes to aircrew personnel that have lost their lives in the county. The first person to be entered is P/O Earl Wallace Mason, who was was sadly killed in his Hurricane in 1941, during an exercise. A big thank you must go to Mr Lee Mason for all his help, along with the rest of his family.

If you have a relative or loved one that was sadly killed in Lincolnshire whilst serving their respective Air Force, then please contact us and we would be more than happy to add them to the list.

After checking the site stats for the first 6 months of the year, we have had well over 20,000 hits on the site. So a huge "Thank You" must go to everyone who has visited Bomber County so far, and made it such a big success.

We are pleased to announce that we have now teamed up with the Lightning Association. We be promoting and helping where possible with the restoration, up keep and running of XR724 English Electric Lightning F.6, which currently resides at the former RAF Binbrook.
